"Therefore Be it Resolved. That in the death of the above named soldiers, we, the officers of the 80th Ind. Reg., feel that in their death the country has lost worthy citizens, men who shunned no duty and feared no danger while in her defense, and the reg. with which they were associated, soldiers brave, loyal, but unfortunate. Resolved. That we deeply sympathize with their friends and relatives and friends and relatives of all who have fallen in this our last great struggle for National existence ; that our earnest prayer to the God of Nations and of battles is for the success of the defenders of our country, and the utter destruction of those who fired on the flag of their country and slew their brethren." --portion of a Resolution by officers of the 80th, signed by Capt.
