The first-ever 80th Indiana relatives reunion was held on Saturday, October 5, 2002.  It was held in conjunction with a large-scale reenactment of the October 8, 1862, Battle of Perryville (originally known as the Battle of Chaplin Hills).  This is where the 80th first experienced combat, or "saw the elephant" as they said in those days.  The reunion and reenactment were in honor of the 140th anniversary of the battle.  They took place on the actual land where the fighting occurred, now part of the Perryville Battlefield Park in Boyle County, Kentucky.  Below are the nineteen relatives who assembled there to learn about, and honor, their ancestor's sacrifices during the war.
